Sound and Video Installation by
Una Knox and Damian Keller
Interdisciplinary artists Una Knox and Damian Keller collaborate on a sound installation exploring human interaction with natural and simulated sounds. Damian Keller - Currently working on his PhD at Stanford University, Keller has conducted studies in simulation of everyday sounds. His sound installations serve to provide an active artistic experience for the public, and to allow the artist to assess the validity of several hypotheses within a theoretical approach. His graduate work at Simon Fraser University centered on the interaction between environment-based and human-based explanations in solving the problem of auditory recognition of natural sounds. Una Knox is a Vancouver-based interdisciplinary artist. Her video and photo-based work investigates parallels between technology, cultural systems, and social apparatuses. Exquisite Corpse, her 1999 video involving collaborations with several visual and sound artists has screened at several international film and video festivals, and will soon be played on The Women's Television Network. A large number of her photographs are featured in Douglas Coupland's upcoming book City of Glass. |
