happy birthday, art
January 23, 2007

and then we arrived at the finale of the weeks evenfulness... oke i missed a couple of things, there were more streamings and performances for which i arrived late cause i am very irresponsible, even when i am making an effort not to be. that is, it's hard to be there for six hours or so, everyday. i can manage one or two hours, but after that my brain blurs and i just get real confusing. cause really, i would rather be at home, playing with my toys. therefore, instead of being at time and leaving early, i conceived of the brilliant strategy or arriving late and thus staying to the end. i like the ends of things, the mess, the winding of wires, wandering around the empty humm of the place, the footsteps, the dirty glasses.

the finale, the ostensible artbirthday party, artentainment provided by the sophisticated piano stylings of mr. hank bull with mr. roberto paci dalo on clarinet.

mr. hank bull, inspired

mr. hank bull inspired still, and mr. roberto paci dalo, who seems to have inspired himself to split into two. pictures never lie, mr. paci dalo!

and then it was time to stream stuff to japan... oh japan, a place i truly like, and no, i didn't freak out the japanese like everyone expected, actually, me and my japanese pals, we got along swell, i taught them to swear in hungarian which was much appreciated.

yes, well... so it was time to stream and seeing the theme of the event, the sub-theme if you will, was to be as low tech as possible --hah, you wouldn't have believed that from the plethora of slivery mac laptops beglittering every surface, okay, not every surface but lots of surfaces nevertheless, anyways, given the lowtech theme, the streaming to japan was accomplished through an antique videophone... which has another name but i forget what that is. it doesn't really stream video, it transmits stills, kinda like framegrabs, all in lovely lowres blackandwhite.

of which this was one:

enthusiastic japanese art students, jaggies courtesy of being blown up big on the screen

and now the birthday cake, with candles and everything:

since i didn't count the candles, i don't know how old art is this year

that too was transmitted, and then everyone waved from here and from there, and then:

actually, this might have happened before the cake, i don't quite remember cause by then i was confused but i think this picture ends the transmission quite nicely, in this story i mean

the end
